More on Video Poker the Casino Game - Rules, Strategy & Tips
Rules and information on the casino game Video Poker can be found below.
Rules
The idea is to hopefully achieve the highest poker win available, which in this game is a royal flush (five cards from 10 through to Ace of the same suit). If you do win with this hand, which isn’t that common, you could win the progressive jackpot (if it is a progressive video poker) or if not you will certainly win the top jackpot prize.
Other wins include (in descending order) a straight flush, four of a kind, a full house, a flush, a straight, three of a kind, two pair and the lowest win is normally a pair. You are initially dealt five cards and then get the chance to change one or more of these if they are no good. You can hold the ones you like and then press draw to change the remaining cards and hopefully generate a new winning hand. After these new cards are dealt, that is one hand/game complete and any winnings will be paid accordingly.
Strategy & Tips
If you are aware of the poker wins, it can help you make better decisions when playing video poker. Placing sensible sized bets per game is also advised. For beginners who are not too sure about the different wins, you can always check them out while you are playing just by viewing the paytable.
Figure out how much you are willing to spend on each game and this will help you adjust each stake. Try not to overspend, especially until you learn how to play the game properly. Due to the fact that there are so many different video poker varieties, you should always check the rules before you start playing.
Many casinos will have this game in the free play mode, which is ideal for new players to learn the basics. Players are also advised to start with single hand games before venturing into multihand video poker games.
